Rockslide Summer Camps

ROCKSLIDE CAMPS ARE BACK!

Register for one of our three camps being hosted at the Kelowna Curling Club.

Contact Paul Cseke – pcseke@curlbc.ca for more information.

The Kelowna Curling Club is located at 551 Recreation Ave, Kelowna, BC V1Y 7V5.

This year’s Rockslide Camps will be divided into the Main camp (ages 8-14), and the Excellence Camp (ages 15-21) and the Coach Camp (ages 16+).

We have a great line up of coaches and athletes coming to lead, instruct, and share their knowledge at camp. Please see the full list of Rockslide staff HERE

The registration for the Main and Excellence Camp is done through one link and participants will be divided into the two main groups based on their age. Within the groups we will further divide the participants according to their age and experience for the on- and off-ice activities.

Main Camp
The Main Camp is designed for youth aged 8 to 14 where young curlers can look forward to learning the latest in technical skill development, performance, and team dynamics from BC’s top coaches. A main focus of this camp is fun and creating connections in the curling community. In addition to the on- and off-ice curling content, there will also be fun camp-like activities such as Minute to Win It, Family Feud, active PE games, and more. The camp is open to people with any curling abilities.

Excellence Camp
The Excellence Camp is for curlers aged 15-21 with at least 1 year of curling experience. This camp is designed to give participants an opportunity to enhance their technical skills, tactical skills, sweeping abilities, team communication, and more. Participants are encouraged to attend with their teammates, however individuals are also welcome.

Coach Camp
The Coach Camp is designed to get coaches ready for their 2024/25 season. New coaches and experienced coaches are both encouraged to sign up. This year we will divide coaches based on experience for part of the camp to ensure the most relevant information is shared with each coach. The focus of this year will be on technical analysis and team dynamics.

History of Rockslide

The first Rockslide was held in 2011 and brought 49 young curlers together! In 2012, 70 curlers worked with a great and professional coaching team to improve and fine tune their curling skills. In 2012, 69 curlers participate in the summer camp and in 2013, 73 curlers and 13 coaches and staff made for a fun and learning filled 3.5 days! In 2014, the camp also offered professional development for coaches. The coach camp expanded in 2015 and a bonspiel was added in 2016. The camp continues to grow and reach new participants.
