Updated Canadian Team Ranking System Structure Released

September 02, 2021

Curling Canada has released an updated 2021-22 Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) structure.

In a key change from past seasons, teams will now only be allowed to count a maximum of 5 events towards their CTRS points totals as of December 7th, 2021. This means that when Curl BC awards the Top Women’s and Men’s CTRS teams as of December 7th, 2021 – with a berth into the 2022 BC Scotties and 2022 BC Men’s Championships – teams will only be able to use their top 5 events, instead of their top 8 as in previous years. The change comes because teams are not expected travel as extensively this season due to COVID-19.

Teams planning to enter the Scotties or Brier categories with free agent or birthright eligible team members can now complete the required form. Reminder: free Agents or birthright applications must be received by Curl BC a minimum of 30 days prior to the entry deadline.

For all BC Championship Categories, residency exemptions may be granted if:

  1. Entrant is living within a short distance of a BC/AB border
  2. or, entrant is based in two geographic locations due to employment
  3. or, entrant is a full-time student wishing to compete in the province/territory where they attend school

Curl BC must receive the residency exemption application a minimum of 21 days prior to the entry deadline of the competition(s) the applicant wishes to enter.
