Remembering Jack Finnbogason

Jack Finnbogason, a provincial and national champion, sadly passed away this week at the age of 81.

Jack was key part of the Rick Pughe team, winning the BC Senior Men’s Championships in 1997 and 1998. He also won the BC Masters Men’s Championships in 2008, 2009 and 2012. Jack’s biggest curling accomplishment came in 2008, where they were crowned National Masters champions, winning on home soil in Nanaimo. They were also awarded Masters Team of the Year in both 2008 and 2012.

Jack grew up in Manitoba and would later move to Toronto to begin his career as a teacher. Jack, with his wife Marsha moved to BC in 1971 where he would begin teaching at Douglas College for another 33 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jack on Tuesday, May 7 from 4-7pm at the Washington Avenue Grill in White Rock.
