Planning underway for the 2024-25 season

May 01, 2024

Curl BC is in the midst of planning for next season and what a season of curling in BC it is shaping up to be. From February 8th to 16th, the 2025 Invictus Games will be held in Vancouver/Whistler featuring wheelchair curling for the first time in the history of the event. Vancouver Curling Club will play host. Not long afterwards, the 2025 Montana’s Brier will be held February 28th to March 9th at Prospera Place in Kelowna. Here are the links for tickets and accommodation: 2025 Montana’s Brier | Tickets (curling.ca) and  2025 Montana’s Brier | Where to Stay (curling.ca).

With regard to next season’s BC Championships, we’re still looking for a few host sites and have begun the process of establishing sites for the 2025-26 season. If your club is interested in a rewarding experience, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Curl BC’s Event Operations Manager, Sherri Taylor at staylor@curlbc.ca.

On the Governance side, Curl BC’s 2024 Annual General Meeting is fast approaching. Mark 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 13th on your calendars as we look forward to seeing you there virtually where we will also be recognizing our Annual Award winners. A big thank you to all of you who submitted nominations for these awards. It allows us to celebrate and honour those who have made outstanding contributions to the sport of curling in BC.

Finally, on the coaching side, we welcome Chris Summers in his new role as Coach Developer Coordinator. Many of you know Chris for the work he’s done coaching junior teams and conducting coaching courses for Curl BC. He succeeds Karen Watson, who has served as Curl BC’s Master Learning Facilitator for close to 20 years in addition to being the Health & Doping Control Consultant for Curling Canada. Many thanks to Karen for all she has done and continues to do for curling in BC and across Canada.
