New health orders force postponement/cancellation of Curl BC Championships

December 17, 2021

As a result of a new health order handed down today by Dr. Bonnie Henry, BC’s Public Health Officer, Curl BC will likely need to postpone or potentially cancel a number of its upcoming championships.

The restrictions, which take effect on Monday, December 20, 2021, will extend to at least January 31, 2022, and will affect the following Curl BC events:

The 2022 U18 Championships

The 2022 BC Scotties Women’s Championship

The 2022 BC Men’s Championship

The 2022 BC Winter Games Zone Qualifiers (Zones 1-8)

The 2022 BC Stick Open Championship

The 2022 BC Stick Women’s Championship

The 2022 Wheelchair Championships

The 2022 U21 Championships

As we enter this new phase of COVID-19—and the Omicron variant on the rise—Curl BC would like to remind its members to wear their masks and practice physical distancing. And, of course, to self-monitor for any symptoms of COVID-19 (including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, and a new loss of taste or smell), by seeking medical attention and avoiding public facilities until the health situation is diagnosed and resolved.

Despite the many potential changes brought on by this new health order, Curl BC is hopeful that it will be possible to hold the affected events in a timely manner, and will issue updates on the situation as soon as a course of action becomes clear.
