Program Application Information

Application Process

The 2024/25 HP Program is open to application on an individual basis, however teams are encouraged to have all team members apply in order to maximize the potential access to resources.  Applications will open on April 5, 2024, and will close on April 26, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered. All applicants will be notified about their selection as of April 30, 2024. The athletes will be placed into their respective pathways according to their age and current level of competition, and the program aims to include athletes at all of the below mentioned pathways. 

Train to Excel (25+) 

  • Podium at BC Men’s, Women’s or Mixed Doubles Championship 
  • CTRS & CMDRS Top 30
  • Training to Competition ratio is 25% – 75% 
    • 2 practices/week & 7+ Tour events

Learn to Excel (U25)

  • Podium at BC Men’s, Women’s or Mixed Doubles, USport/CCAA Championship, U25 CC event 
  • U21 athletes currently aging out and transitioning into Men’s and Women’s who reached the podium at U21 provincials
  • CTRS & CMDRS Top 30 
  • Training to Competition ratio is 33% – 67% 
    • 2 practices/week & 6+ Tour events

Train to Compete (U21)

  • Athletes who have reached podium at U21 provincials 
  • Athletes who are aging out of U18 and transitioning into U21 who reached the podium at U18 provincials 
  • Training to Competition ratio is 40% – 60% 
    • 2 practices/week & 5 competitive non championship events

Learn to Compete (U18)

  • Athletes who have qualified for Canada Winter Games 
  • Athletes who have reached podium at U18 or U21 provincials 
  • Training to Competition ratio is 50 %- 50% 
    • 2 practices/week & 4 non championship competitive events

Athletes will be assessed based on the above criteria in accordance with Curling Canada’s LTCD. This will include their performance in the 2023/24 season, as well as if they are meeting the Curling Canada standardized training and competition breakdown. 

These athletes will also be required to submit a one-page letter of intent. In the letter we ask that athletes explain their motivation for joining the program, their future goals and aspirations in our sport, as well as addressing the 5-benchmarks based on the CC LTCD, and how the program would provide beneficial assistance in growth in these categories (technical, tactical, physical, mental and social).

The 24/25 HP program fees will be:

  1. 250$ for Podium (25+ and U25 athletes)
  2. 150$ for Competitive (U21 and U18 athletes)
