COVID-19 Restrictions Update

April 08, 2022

As of 12:01am this morning—Friday, April 8th— the Provincial Health Officer has lifted all restrictions affecting sports in BC.

With the rapid change in public health orders, here’s where the province stands as far as COVID-19 restrictions and mandates:

  • Proof of vaccination is no longer required by the Provincial Health Officer for sport activities and programs, although Individual businesses and event organizers can choose to continue requiring proof of vaccination for entry.
  • Businesses, organizations and facilities no longer need a COVID-19 safety plan, however they must follow communicable disease guidance from WorkSafeBC
  • Wearing masks in public indoor settings is no longer required by public health, although Individual businesses, facilities and event organizers can choose to continue requiring masks on their premises. It’s important that we respect these choices.

Despite the changes, the pandemic continues, and coronavirus—though reduced in spread—can still be a danger to older adults and the immunocompromised. Because of this, Curl BC recommends both COVID-19 vaccinations and continued mask-wearing.

As people will adjust to the changes in restrictions at their own pace, Curl BC asks that all our clubs, players, and officials be respectful of other other’s comfort levels.
