CEO’s Message – Host a BC Championship!

February 27, 2024

As we close in on the end of the 2023-24 curling season, I would like to thank everyone for making it another great year for curling in B.C. Great to see the number of registered regular curlers increase above pre-COVID numbers along with the increase in the number of member facilities back up to 88.

With the end of the season in sight, preparations are beginning for next season and beyond. In particular, Curl BC has put out a call for host sites for both the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons (click here to view the calendar and more info). We would like to get back to planning 2 years in advance so local organizing committees can “shadow” the preceding year’s championships in order to maintain a transfer of corporate hosting knowledge from year-to-year.

If your curling centre is interested in hosting BC Championships or Open qualifying events either next season or the following, please let us know as soon as you can. The longer the lead time, the more opportunity we have to work together on accessing grants and generating corporate and media support.

Last but definitely not the least, please join me in congratulating our High Performance Director & Coach Melissa Soligo, as she is honoured with the prestigious In Her Footsteps … Celebrating BC Women in Sport recognition program. Her long-time contribution on and off the ice is truly inspirational to the whole B.C. curling community, and beyond.

Have a great month on the ice in March and we look forward to hearing how the end of your season winds up.
