BC Winter Games

What are the BC Winter Games?

BC Winter GamesThe BC Winter Games are governed by the BC Games Society and are BC’s biennial celebration of sport and community that bring together the province’s best emerging high performance athletes for four days of competition. Curling athletes at the BC Winter Games are between the ages of 11 and 16 and are in the Training to Train phase of athlete development.

When are the BC Winter Games?

The BC Winter Games take place every two years, with the next one taking place February 20-23, 2020, in Fort St. John.

How do athletes get involved in competing at the BC Winter Games?

Club teams in each zone compete in playdowns in order to earn the chance to represent their zone at the BC Winter Games. Playdowns for the 2020 BC Winter Games will take place during the 2019-20 season. Information regarding these playdowns will be published on the Curl BC website as that information becomes available.

The zones for the BC Winter Games are different than the Curl BC regions. More information on the BC Games Zones can be found here: https://www.bcgames.org/Games/Zones

To compete in the BC Winter Games, all athletes must be members of Curl BC. All competitors can only qualify for the zone in which they make their permanent residence and not from where they register to compete.

BC Winter Games Preparation Camps

Curl BC offers a Podium Preparation Program for youth curlers and their support team (parent, coach, junior coordinator) as they explore and learn more about competitive curling in BC. This program includes BC Winter Games Preparation Camps.

More information on these camps can be found here: https://www.curlbc.ca/coursescamps/podium-preparation-program/

Assistant Coaches and Adult Supervisors
