Curl BC member facilities can request to have one of our six BC Ice Technician’s to provide on-site mentorship.
In person mentorship:
1 – 3 days of in person Mentorship at your facility
- Facility Tour
- Discussion around your facilities ice history, current conditions, and philosophies.
- Mentorship to the entire ice team at your facility including all staff and volunteers who install, maintain, and prepare ice.
Topics covered may include the following: Water quality, flooding, pebbling, scraping and scrape patterns, blade maintenance, ice topography, air and humidity and associated equipment, building envelope, stone maintenance, Cruise Melter (pro-oxy burner), scheduling and routines, draw changes, rink dimensions, seasonal maintenance, and understanding refrigeration and brine temperature as it relates to ice conditions.
Mentorship Fees:
- $500 per day
- Travel
- Accommodation
Mentors are available across BC, proximity and availability will be considered in assigning a mentor to your facility.
Mentorship is separate from the Curling Canada Ice Technician training and certification program.
