9th Annual Anita Cochrane Memorial West Coast Junior Classic
The 9th Annual Anita Cochrane Memorial West Coast Junior Classic, which finished on September 24 at Royal City Curling Club, was an outstanding success, bringing together 16 youth teams from across British Columbia for thrilling competitions.
As part of the BC Junior Tour, it continues to be the kick-off for competitive U18 and U21 teams preparing for Provincial and National Championships. This year’s event also feature the next generation of U16 teams, who gained valuable experience competing against their peers and had the opportunity to stretch themselves against U18 and U21 teams. Distinguished by its use of time-clocks, coach interaction rules, a banquet, and key note message from the Basset family, the cashspiel offered a comprehensive experience for the young athletes.
None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of Ted, Mona and Paul Bassett, the longtime dedicated title sponsors, who continue to honor the legacy of their beloved daughter, Anita, by supporting this event year after year. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to event organizer Steve Kopf and his team of dedicated volunteers, including timers, officials, and countless others, who wholeheartedly contribute to creating a profoundly meaningful and positive experience for everyone involved.
The women’s event was won by Team Bowles which included Emily Bowles, Meredith Cole, Mahra Harris and Gabby Brissette. The men’s event was won by Team Beck, which included Kaiden Beck, Alex Duncan-Wu, Nolan Beck, and Ethan Chiu.
