2025 BC Men’s & Women’s Curling Championships, Presented by Best Western – Wrap-up

The 2025 BC Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships, presented by Best Western, wrapped up successfully at the George Preston Arena in the Township of Langley, BC. Held from January 21-26, the event brought together 12 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams, showcasing some of the best curling talent in the province.
Women’s Championship
Team Brown from the Kamloops Curling Club emerged victorious in the Women’s Championship and will represent BC at the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, taking place from February 14-23 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Coached by Jim Cotter, Team Brown came into the event as last year’s Silver Medalists and started their round-robin campaign with six consecutive wins. Their winning streak was halted by defending champions Team MacMillan in their final round-robin game, a narrow 7-8 loss. Entering the playoffs as the 2nd seed, Team Brown redeemed themselves with a commanding 8-3 win over Team MacMillan in the 1 vs 2 page game and clinched the championship with a 10-7 victory in the final.
Men’s Championship
Team de Jong from the Victoria Curling Club claimed the Men’s Championship and will represent BC at the 2025 Montana’s Brier, presented by AGI, from February 28 to March 9 at Prospera Place in Kelowna. Unlike the women’s round-robin format, the men’s event followed a triple-knockout structure. Team de Jong faced a challenging path to victory, losing to Team Kolomaya, the eventual Bronze Medalists, in the 3rd round of the A-event and to Team Deane in the 3rd round of the B-event. They secured their playoff spot by winning a C-Qualifier and went on to defeat Team Deane in the C1 vs C2 game, followed by a semi-final win against Team Kolomaya. In a first-time matchup in the final, Team de Jong overcame Team Venance with a hard-fought 10-8 victory.
