2023 Connect Hearing BC Masters Curling Championships Draw 9 Recap

The playoffs have officially kicked off this morning for the men at the 2023 Connect Hearing BC Masters Curling Championships.

Team Van Yzerloo (Castlegar) were undefeated coming into this Page 1v2 game, having qualified through the A-Event on Thursday afternoon. Team Sieg (Cloverdale) had the long road through the B-Event, but proved they could bounce back from their single loss with three consecutive wins to land themselves this spot. Team Van Yzerloo put on a great show, winning in an extra end. They earned themselves a 4-3 win and a spot in tomorrow morning’s gold medal game.

In the Page 3v4, the C-Qualifiers, Team Craig (Comox, Duncan, Victoria) and Team Sulz (Parksville) were in a must win situation, with the loser seeing the end of their run. After a close game, it was Team Sulz moving on to the semi-final by a score of 7-6.

Team Sulz will face Team Sieg in the semi-final, which will be played later today at 7:00pm.

2023 Connect Hearing BC Masters Curling Championships Draw 10 Recap

It was the women’s turn to get the playoffs going in Parksville with their semi-final matchup between hometown Team Shearer (Parksville) and Team Mychaluk (Royal City, Langley).

Team Mychaluk qualified for the playoffs through the B-Event yesterday morning, while Team Shearer qualified through the C-Event yesterday afternoon. These teams had yet to face each other in this event, so it was anyone’s game. Mychaluk was playing very well and the scoreboard showed it. They won 6-1. Team Shearer will face defending champions, Team Shantz (Qualicum, Parksville, Penticton) for the gold medal tomorrow morning at 9:00am.

Congratulations to Team Shearer on winning a bronze medal this week.

2023 Connect Hearing BC Masters Curling Championships Draw 11 Recap

Only one game was on the ice in Saturday’s last draw from Parksville. The remaining spot in the men’s final was up for grabs between Team Sulz and Team Sieg

Team Sieg had a chance to put themselves in the final earlier today but were not able to secure the win. They were not looking to lose the chance again. Team Sulz were motivated by their Page 3v4 win to keep the energy going. After all was said and done, Team Sieg locked up their spot in the gold medal game by a score of 6-5. Congratulations to Team Sulz on their Bronze medal, they had a fantastic week and kept their local fans on the edge of the seats.

Team Sieg will go for the championship title against Team Yan Yzerloo tomorrow morning at 9:00am, alongside the women’s final.
