2023 Connect Hearing BC Masters Curling Championship Day 3 Recap

Draw 7 saw two more teams lock up their spots in the 2023 Connect Hearing BC Masters Curling Championships playoffs.

On the women’s side, Team Mychaluk (Royal City, Langley) stepped on the ice to face fellow Lower Mainland competitors, Team Klebe (Chilliwack, Richmond, Cloverdale, Langley) in the B-Qualifier. With a 6-4 win, Team Mychaluk put themselves into the women’s semi-final which will be played at 2:00pm tomorrow.

On the men’s side, their B-Qualifier was played between Team Lepine (Royal City, Langley, Penticton, Cloverdale) and Team Sieg (Cloverdale). Team Sieg punched their ticket to the playoffs with a 6-3 win. They will face Team VanYzerloo (Castlegar) in the Page 1v2 game at 9:00am tomorrow morning.

In the remaining games, we saw the continuation of the C-Event on the men’s and women’s sides of the competition. For the women, Team Shearer (Parksville) was in a must win game against Team Konyer (Nanaimo). Team Shearer took two in the 8th to win by one 6-5, putting themselves in the C-Qualifier game that will be played this afternoon at 2:00pm.

Team Sulz (Parksville) and Team Shimizu (Richmond, Vancouver) were in a similar situation on the men’s side. Both teams had their sights set on a spot in the C-Qualifier game, but it was Team Sulz who had their wishes granted with a 10-6 win. Like the women, the C-Qualifier game will be played at 2:00pm this afternoon. Their opponent will be Team Lepine.

2023 Connect Hearing BC Masters Curling Championships Draw 8 Recap

The final playoff spots were up for grabs this afternoon with all C-Qualifier games being played.

Two C-Qualifier games were happening for the men’s competitors. The first between Team Sulz and Team Lepine was intense, knowing it was the last chance to get into the playoffs. In this match, Team Sulz came out on top, 7-2.

The other men’s C-Qualifier game was defending champion, Team Craig’s (Comox, Duncan, Victoria), last chance to get into the playoffs. Only Team King (Kelowna) stood in their way. In the end, it was Team Craig putting themselves in the remaining playoff spot. Final score was 6-1.

Team Sulz and Team Craig will play each other in the Page 3v4 game at 9:00am tomorrow.

In the lone women’s C-Qualifier, Team Klebe and Team Shearer put on a great show. Team Shearer took the game and the final spot in tomorrow’s semi-final, by a score of 6-5. They will play against Team Mychaluk at 2:00pm tomorrow afternoon.

Saturday consists of three draws at the masters. 9:00 am is the mens playoff 1-2 and 3-4 games, 2:00 pm is the women’s Semi Finals, and 7:00 pm is the mens Semi Finals.
