Message from Nathan Small/ Organizing Committee:

The organizing committee would like to welcome all competitive curling teams from BC and beyond to this new BC Curling Tour Event, taking place in Trail, BC.  This event is designed to kick off the competitive season in British Columbia and will provide ample practice ice time to competing teams before the event on Thursday and after the event on Monday.

Negotiated discounts on golf rate at Redstone in Rossland , (https://redstoneresort.com/) have also be arranged for teams.  This package includes cart, food, beer, and tip, for teams that wish to do some “team building” on the Thursday afternoon before  draw 1 kicks off on Friday morning.

Torchlight Brewing will also be present during the event to host craft beer tastings.

Discounted lodging rates for a few of the hotels in the area including the Best Western Plus which is beside the curling club. The rate sheet will be proved to teams after completing you entry with Mike Williams.

As someone that competes in the Trail Superleague, I can attest that Mike Williams, TCA’s Head ice make makes fantastic ice and Trail’s rocks are also excellent. Mike is a very talented icemaker and further developed his skill by being a part of several provincial and national level event. Mike was a part of the ice technician team for the combined 2020 BC Men’s Provincials and 2020 BC Scotties, presented by Best Western. Mike was also part of the ice team for the National Scotties in Penticton in 201. he was also the #3 ice technician for the World’s Championships in Lethbridge. You can expect excellent ice at this event and rocks that will curl consistently.

We also understand that Trail is a long way from the coast and a few hours from the Okanagan, and traveling during the peak time of the competitive season poses weather related challenges in mountain passes. This is why we intend to host our event every year in September to avoid that, and always the weekend before the annual event in Vernon. We anticipate local and international teams may wish to stay in the area for extra practice and to also avoid having to travel back to the coast between events. Both Trail and Castlegar have regional airports if teams wish to travel via air instead.

In addition to the $4000 sponsorship from Torchlight Brewing as our title sponsor for this event, we are working to line up more local sponsors to increase the total purse for this event as we hope this will attract more teams. The actual total purse will depend on the total number of entries

If you have any questions, please reach out to Mike Williams, Richard Faunt, and/or Nathan Small and we’d be happy to provide additional details.

Thank you and See you in September,

Nathan
