Lorraine Gagnon

Curl BC is saddened to hear of the passing of Lorraine Gagnon, a BC Senior Women’s champion (2011) and BC and Canadian Master Women’s champion (2018).

Lorraine was born in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan on August 11th, 1957. Lorraine passed peacefully at home on New Year’s Day (January 1st, 2019). Lorraine was predeceased by her father Alexander Francis Haughian and survived by her mother Hazel, husband Mike, two brothers Tim and Rob, sister Kathy and their families.

Lorraine grew up in Qu’Appelle, a farm girl and a Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. Shortly after graduating she moved to Vancouver Island and started working for the federal government, and 37 years later moved into retirement. Throughout Lorraine’s lifetime she had many step-children and grandchildren, and she loved them all like they were her own.

Lorraine was very active in the curling community and competitive curling. She was a huge supporter of youth curling. Whether it was reading a book, travelling, curling or spending time with family and friends, Lorraine loved life. She was always devoted to her church whether it was singing in the church choir, being their treasurer or taking her aunt Alice to church each Sunday.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kerry Park Curling Centre, 1035 Shawnigan Mill Bay Road, Mill Bay, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to support Kerry Park Junior Curling.
