Curl BC has created this page to keep its members up-to-date on the various fundraising efforts taking place at its member facilities around the province. Some of these efforts may be small, like interior renovations or repairs, and some may be huge capital projects, like major ice plant repairs, a new roof, or even the construction of a new club. They are all important, however, to the growth, safety, and enjoyment of curling in our province. If you can help any of these efforts either monetarily or through volunteering, please consider doing so.
Spuzzum Curling Club Ice Plant Condenser Replacement
With Spuzzum’s condenser nearing the end of its natural life, efforts are under way to replace it. With a replacement cost of $250,000, the club is working through a multi-pronged approach, with both a donation-based fundraising campaign and a series of events including a dinner-dance, a golf tournament, and a silent auction. Greenwood Curling Club Bar Renovation
In an effort to bring in new members and make the club more attractive to locals and local events, the Greenwood Curling Club has begun fundraising to replace the furniture, paint, lighting, and carpeting in its bar area. With an estimated cost of $75,000, funds are being raised through a rodeo-themed bonspiel, a 50/50 draw, and solicitation of direct donations. Spences Bridge Curling Club
As club membership has grown greatly over the past ten years, the Spences Bridge Curling Club has outgrown its current ice shed. At an estimated cost of $150,000, the club is looking to build an addition to the current structure, and increase its number of sheets from two to four. Fundraising is based around direct solicitation, a bonspiel (“Enchantment Under the Sea”), a golf tournament, and the sale of commemorative bricks in the club’s front pathway.
