Our House is Your House

Your Curl BC Affiliation

Curl BC members are affiliated curling clubs, big and small, in British Columbia. As a registered curler of an affiliated curling club in BC, your annual affiliation fee of $15 helps your curling club access resources to support club operations and offer a quality curling experience to curlers in your club. You are the key to your club’s growth and success, and you and your club together are key to the sustainability of curling in BC. Here are some of the benefits of Curl BC affiliation:

Personal Accident Insurance coverage
Personal Accident Insurance coverage is for injuries that occur while curling. There is also limited coverage for injuries that occur while travelling to and from the curling club to curl.

Deals from our sponsors
Curl BC affiliated curlers are eligible for discounts from Curl BC sponsors like belairdirect, Best Western, and AMJ Campbell, and affiliated curling clubs are eligible for preferred pricing on equipment from Ice King, and on paint, logos, and paint equipment from Jet Ice.

Coaching workshops
BC has some of the best curling coaches in the game, and Curl BC affiliated curlers can take advantage of their expertise by working with them to develop and hone their curling skills.  Affiliated clubs can also take advantage of hosting coaching workshops to train and develop club coaches and competition coaches.

Quality ice technician training
Curl BC affiliated clubs have access to ice technician training through Curl BC’s highly qualified and experienced Ice Tech Mentorship Team. With their expertise and mentorship, your club is on its way to creating and maintaining the best ice possible to develop and push your curling game to the next level.

Communications and marketing
Stay up to date with what’s what and who’s who in curling in BC with our website, The Curling Connection, and our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Affiliated clubs can also access a variety of marketing materials and advertise their bonspiels through the annual Curl BC Yearbook and Curl BC’s social media accounts.

Recognition
Affiliated clubs are encouraged to nominate deserving individuals for the Curl BC Annual Awards and for Curl BC Club Volunteer recognition certificates.  Affiliated clubs can also participate in the Curl BC Skill Awards program where participants can earn badges as they learn about curling and develop their curling abilities.

Competitions
There are nine categories of playdowns and BC Championships, as well as the BC Club Challenge, in which affiliated curlers can compete. Some events are televised, with end-by-end scores available online on playdowns.curlbc.ca.

Hosting playdowns and other Curl BC competitions
Affiliated clubs can submit bids to host Curl BC playdowns and BC Championships, which are a great opportunity to highlight your club, your ice, your volunteers, and your community spirit. Host clubs receive 85-100% of the event net revenue as well as media exposure and increased foot traffic.

Curl BC’s High Performance Program
This program is for affiliated teams who want to take their game to the next level. A dedicated group of coaches will identify the gaps in each athlete’s development and use specific resources to bridge those gaps.

Floor curling equipment
Affiliated facilities can borrow Curl BC’s floor curling equipment at no cost for use at community and curling club events.

Business of Curling
Affiliated clubs are encouraged to send staff and volunteers to the biennial Business of Curling Symposium, a two day networking and learning event, as well as the Business of Curling Phase 2 workshop, which focuses on developing a three to five year strategic or business plan to help your club succeed.

Grants and fundraising
Affiliated clubs can access assistance with sourcing and applying for grants.  Through Curl BC, affiliated clubs can also create a National Sport Trust Fund for their respective clubs to raise funds for any number of club projects.
