BC Club Challenge

The BC Club Challenge is a province-wide event for men’s and women’s club teams that is run by Curl BC. The purpose of this event is to provide club curlers with an opportunity to compete in a regional event which leads to a provincial competition and to support the development of interclub play and grassroots curling in BC.

The 2019 BC Club Challenge is an open registration event, meaning that any number of teams from a club can enter their respective regional event provided that they meet the nationally proposed eligibility requirements (which can be found HERE). Clubs can send their declared champion(s) to their respective regional event if they wish, but other eligible teams from that same club can also enter.

The women’s and men’s events will each have 12 berths. One of these 12 berths goes to the BC Club Challenge host club, and the other 11 are determined through the following regional events:

– Mainland (3 berths)
– Island (2 berths)
– Okanagan (2 berths)
– East Kootenay (1 berth)
– West Kootenay (1 berth)
– North/Region 5 (1 berth)
– North/Region 6 (1 berth)

Direct entry will be allowed if there is only one entry in a regional event.

Teams that register in the above regional events will receive access to a selection of Curl BC High Performance webinars to watch leading up to their regional competition. The teams that progress to the BC Club Challenge will also have opportunities to receive player development through skills analysis and coach mentorship during the BC Club Challenge. More information on this will be published closer to the event.

Travel and accommodation for the regional events and the BC Club Challenge will be the responsibility of the participating teams.

The top three men’s teams and top three women’s teams from the BC Club Challenge will receive a berth to the Pacific International Cup (PIC), which is taking place April 17 to 21, 2019, at Richmond Curling Centre. If these teams opt out of participating in the PIC, the opportunity will be offered to the next best finisher at the BC Club Challenge. Should there be no provincial teams available to attend the PIC, then the PIC berth(s) will be randomly drawn from all regional competitors.

Information regarding the 2019 National Curling Club Championship is still TBA. This page will be updated as soon as that information is made available.

Registration will open in the coming weeks.
