Board seeks individuals to be candidates for Governor at Large positions

The Curl BC Board is inviting individuals to apply to be candidates for the Governors-at-Large positions on the 10-person board.

At the 2018 Curl BC AGM, planned for June, members will elect two Governors-at-Large for two-year terms.

Chair Paul Addison said: “We are seeking individuals who are willing to help Curl BC ensure that curling is an integral part of the lifestyle, culture and heritage of British Columbia.”

Links to an overview of Curl BC and the role of the Board and its Governors is included below as is a skills inventory and self-assessment to help provide a sense of both the role as Governor of Curl BC and the skills being sought in Governors. Also included is a generalized schedule and activities to provide you with the time expectation for a Governor and a framework to help guide you through the steps of the election process.

Addison continued: “Our objective in distributing this package is to solicit as many candidates as possible from which the membership can elect those who will govern our organization.

“We hope you will consider standing for office and look forward to your enhanced involvement with Curl BC. The deadline for submission of your candidacy to the Board and the completed self-assessment and narrative overview is April 13, 2018.”

Anyone who wants to run for a Governor at Large position after that deadline who has not already put their name forward to the board must be supported by three curling centres.

If you are interested in pursuing this volunteer opportunity and require further information, please contact Terry Vandale, Past Chair at tvandale@telus.net or Paul Addison, Chair, at pauladdison@shaw.ca.
