Curl BC travel subsidies switched to prize package

Curl BC is restructuring the way it allocates subsidies to teams competing in BC championships.

There will be no more travel subsidies, with participants instead competing for a prize package.

A total prize package of $26,000 in cash will be available for curlers who finish on the podium. A further $20,000 in cash will be awarded to the remaining teams.

Cash prizes for first place finishers are in addition to the $750 in clothing from Curl BC. Travel and accommodation subsidies are provided at the national level except for the Masters and Mixed Doubles divisions.

As always, teams will be encouraged to use Best Western hotels to support an important sponsor of curling.

The change is in effect for the 2016-17 season.
