Curl BC celebrates 10 years as ‘One House’ for curling in province

Curl BC is celebrating 10 years!

In June of 2004, the new executive for the Curl BC Board was elected by delegates from the three former associations.

Wayne Braun became the first President, Eric Jamieson and Judy MacKinnon, Vice Presidents, Nigel Easton, Treasurer, and Judie Roberts, Secretary.

From that moment, the Pacific Coast Curling Association, the BC Interior Curling Association and the BC Ladies’ Curling Association had become amalgamated into one association serving the entire province.

The first meeting of the newly elected Board of Curl BC took place in September of 2004 — one decade ago.

In 2004, Curl BC had one delegate (director) from each of the 14 regions in the province.

Since amalgamation, Curl BC has changed shape.

Now, in 2014, Curl BC has just eight board members (both regional governors and governors at large) governing a network of people, including Curl BC staff, coaches, officials, ice techs, learning facilitators and other volunteers. It could not have been done without the dedication of countless volunteers. Thank you!
