Highlights from the CCA’s NCC & AGM

The Canadian Curling Association’s National Curling Congress (NCC) and Annual General Meeting (AGM) were held in Ottawa, June 14-16.

“The 2012 National Curling Congress was an excellent opportunity for our members across the country to come together in Ottawa this week,” said Greg Stremlaw, Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Curling Association (CCA).

“Our sport has so many success stories from the past year so it was rewarding for us to provide updates to the membership as well as celebrate accomplishments, including the CCA’s Hall of Fame Luncheon – the organization’s latest initiative.

“With the final equitable opportunity to access Canadian Championships now approved, we were able to formalize exciting changes to the CCA’s two marquee properties, the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and the Tim Hortons Brier.” [Read more…]

Curling facility needed for Paralympic training

BC Wheelchair Sports Association has two Paralympic Shooters (Target sports athletes) who need additional place to train leading up to the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. Ideally, they need a space in the lower mainland of Vancouver which is 55-60m long and 5 – 10 m wide, to set up a temporary shooting range. Ideally, it is hoped a club might be willing to donate space for use for a limited timeframe. BC Wheelchair Sports Association has $5 Million in liability insurance and can issue a tax receipt for donations in kind. It would make a huge difference in these athletes’ ability to shoot for gold in London! Please contact Gail Hamamoto, Director of Sport Development at BC Wheelchair Sports Association for more information: gail@bcwheelchairsports.com, 604 333-3520, ext. 201.
