CTV weather reports live from Marpole Curling Club tomorrow morning

Suzanne Bertrand loses battle to cancer

Whitehorse’s Suzanne Bertrand lost her battle with cancer this past Monday.

Suzanne was a long time volunteer with the Whitehorse Curling Club and the Yukon Curling Association. She was the receipient of the 2005 CCA Volunteer of the Year Award and served as Yukon’s Technical Coordinator and Master Learning Facilitator for 15 years.

Many BC curlers had the oppotunity to meet Suzanne over the years at coaching courses and competitions. Her outgoing and caring personality was present at all times. Curl BC would like to send its wishes to the family and friends of Suzanne.  

Curl BC shares the words and thoughts of Yukon’s current Master Course Conductor, Gord Moffatt, “She was a wonderful friend, a true ambassador to the sport of curling and she touched so many people in a profound way. She will be deeply missed.”

Teams ready for 2010 BC Masters’ Curling Championships

Richmond, BC (February 15, 2010) – Teams are ready for the 2010 BC Master Men’s & Women’s Curling Championships next month in Grand Forks, March 1-7.

Over the past two weeks, eight men’s and eight women’s teams were declared through regional playdowns to compete in the Provincial Championship which will host the top 60 years and over curlers in BC. Teams will complete an eight-team round robin followed by a three-team playoff. The winners advance to the National Championship March 28 – April 4, in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Team Sanders selected as finalists for Sport BC Team of the Year

Congratulations to Team Sanders (Pat Sanders, Cheryl Noble, Roselyn Craig and Christine Jurgenson) for being selected as finalists for Sport BC’s Team of the Year. Team Sanders won the 2009 World Senior Women’s Curling Championship last spring. The winner will be announced on March 31st at the 44th Annual Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards.

Simpsons go curling this Sunday

Marge and Homer Simpson will go curling in this Sunday’s episode of “The Simpsons.” The two cartoon characters will hit the ice as part of the US Olympic team in the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Click here for the full story.
