Craig & Jurgenson win BC Seniors

Congratulations to the Wes Craig and Christine Jurgenson rinks for winning the 2010 BC Senior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships!


2010 BC Senior finals today at 2:00pm

Both Senior Men’s and Women’s final games are set for today at 2pm at the Nanaimo Curling Club.

Wes Craig defeated Ken Watson this morning in the men’s semi-final after stealing four points in the 8th end for a final score of 9-4. Meanwhile, wife Roselyn Craig has also made the women’s final with skip Christine Jurgenson defeating Quesnel’s Lori Freeman.

BC Seniors in tight battle

Rick Folk and Ken Watson are in a tie for first place (5-1) at the 2010 BC Senior Men’s Curling Championship in Nanaimo this week. Wes Craig and Doug Meger are close behind at 4-2. Meanwhile, Wendy Cseke leads the Senior Women’s Championship at 6-0, Lori Freeman sits in second at 5-1 and Christine Jurgenson is alone in third at 4-2.

Today is the last day of round-robin play with the top three teams advancing to the playoffs.

Meet the Canadian Olympic Curling Teams tomorrow!

Exciting News for Curling Fans!

This Thursday, both Team Martin and Team Bernard will be at the Olympic Superstore at the Bay in Vancouver for an exclusive appearance. Women’s Team arrives at 4:30pm. Men’s team arrives at 6:30pm.

Fans will have a chance to meet all members of both Teams. Although there is no purchase necessary, official Vancouver 2010 Games Posters and Team pictures will be available for sale. Fans will get the opportunity to have these items signed and authenticated in person with the Team Members. Prices for these items start at $49; reservations for these items are now available by visiting the Bay downtown in person only. Bring your camera as pictures WILL be allowed!

This promises to be an exciting event. Come and give your best wishes to these athletes as they embark on a quest for Gold right here in Vancouver!

Note- there is no purchase necessary for those just wishing to meet the Team Members and take a picture. Please understand that we will make every effort to ensure that each fan gets a chance to meet the Team Members but time is limited to 2 hours per Team.

Grand Forks Curling Club Centennial Year

“In December 1909 the ice was put into the Grand Forks Curling Rink for the first time, and starting on January 5, 1910, sixteen teams from the Boundary Area (Grand Forks, Phoenix, Greenwood, and Mother Lode) participated in the inaugural President’s Cup Curling Bonspiel.” Source: 1909-1910 GFCC Minutes

Silver for Sivertson at 2010 M&M Meatshops Canadian Junior Curling Championship

Richmond, BC (January 25, 2010) – The Victoria Curling Club rink of skip Dailene Sivertson, third Simone Brosseau, second Jessie Sanderson, lead Brandi Tinkler and coach Cindy Tucker came within 4 points of winning their first national championship.

The junior women’s team had a rollercoaster week finishing with an 8-4 record and in a 3-way tie for the third and final playoff spot. [Read more…]

Last Thursday, a draft proposal to revise Curl BC Men’s and Women’s playdown systems was leaked to the general public. Unfortunately, those involved in this document’s distribution also misleadingly stated that this document was being voted on at the Curl BC board meeting this past weekend which was never the case. 2010 BC Senior Curling Championships begin tomorrow in Nanaimo

Richmond, BC (January 25, 2010) – The event, matching eight senior men’s and eight senior women’s teams from across BC, begins Tuesday January 26 at the Nanaimo Curling Club with the finals on the afternoon of Saturday January 30 for both men and women. Sivertson to play in national final

The BC junior girls team of Skip Dailene Sivertson, Third Simone Brosseau, Second Jessie Sanderson, and Lead Brandi Tinkler will play for a national championship crown tomorrow after a stellar performance in today’s action at the junior national championship. Sivertson won two tie-breakers earlier today to earn a berth into the semi-final game against Northern Ontario tonight. In a low scoring tight battle, the Victoria Curling Club team stole a single point in an extra-end to win with a score of 4-3.
