World’s First Indoor Long Shot Curling Competition Reminder

Kenzen Long Shot Contest

Richmond, BC (November 26, 2009) – How far could you throw a curling rock if there was no back board to stop it? Curlers will have the chance to find out this Saturday when curling takes over the Richmond Olympic Oval for a one day, once in a lifetime opportunity. Participants can buy tickets ($20) for the opportunity to throw one curling rock as far as they can down the Richmond Olympic Oval speed skating ice. Equipment will be available for non-curlers who would also like to participate. The ice length will be approximately 400 feet long, which is roughly four times the length of a regular sheet of curling ice. Participants will compete in one of eight categories with prizes being awarded to the competitor in each category who throws the rock the farthest. Full event details can be found here. [Read more…]

World Financial Group to sponsor 2010 Canadian Seniors

OTTAWA, November 18, 2009…The Canadian Curling Association today confirmed that World Financial Group will be the title sponsor of the 2010 Canadian Senior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships.

 The World Financial Group Canadian Seniors will take place at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club, March 20-28, 2010. The company also has an option to renew its sponsorship agreement for the 2011 Canadian Seniors in Digby, Nova Scotia. [Read more…]

PEI to host the 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts

1994 Folk team inducted into Hall of Fame

Congratulations to the 1994 team of skip Rick Folk, third Pat Ryan, second Bert Gretzinger, lead Gerry Richard and fifth Ron Steinhauer who have been inducted into the Central Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame. Click here for the full story.

Team BC Advances to Playoffs at Mixed Nationals

Team BC made up of Jason Montgomery, Sarah Wark, Will Duggan and Nicole Montgomery have been playing in Burlington, Ontario this week at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championships. They finished the round robin with an 8-3 record, leaving them tied for 3rd place with Boehmer from Manitoba. In a tiebreaker game this afternoon Montgomery beat Boehmer 10-9 in a close game. They will face Bice from Ontario in the semi-finals tonight.

Scott earns berths into Olympic trials

It’s been a long road but the Kelly Scott team of Jeanna  Schraeder, Sasha Carter, Jacquie Armstrong and Coach, Gerry Richard have earned themselves a trip back to the Canadian Curling Olympic Trails.

Scott advances to Edmonton for the Roar of the Rings after defeating Sherry Middaugh in a “C” event final Saturday afternoon at the the Road to the Roar held in Prince George. [Read more…]
