Enderby Curling Club leads Canadian Direct Insurance Contest

The Enderby Curling Club is currently in the lead to win $1,000 cash from Canadian Direct Insurance.

Canadian curlers lose tough competitor & strong supporter

Curl BC would like to send its thoughts and wishes to the family and friends of Sandra Mulroney. Mulroney, a national level women’s curler from Saskatchewan (member of the Sherry Anderson team) passed away this past Sunday after a two and a half year battle with cancer. Curl BC’s thoughts are also with Jim Armstrong (BC’s own paralympic curler) as his wife Carleen also lost her battle with cancer earlier this month.

Opportunities for Jr/Juv. teams

Junior teams that would like to practice at the North Shore Winter Club prior to the Coastal Playdowns are encouraged to contact Liz Goldenberg regarding ice availability.

Both Junior and Juvenile teams are also encouraged to sign up for Curl BC’s “Competition Camp” hosted by Regional Coach Al Moore. This camp will take place at the Golden Ears Winter Club from October 9-11th. Teams can register for this Camp by emailing Al at amoore@curlbc.ca

Local Sport Development Funding Available

Applications are now being accepted for the first round of funding from the Local Sport Program Development Fund. The Fund will provide up to $2,000 to support new and expanded programs that increase opportunities for new participation in community sport.

The next deadline for applications is Friday, November 13, 2009, 4:00pm. Program Guidelines are available on the 2010 Legacies Now website.

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation is designated by Curl BC as the charity of choice for curling in BC. Since its creation in January 2001 as a legacy to our 3-time world curling champion and Olympic gold medalist, and in recognition and celebration of her love of family, the Sandra Schmirler Foundation has contributed one million dollars to help seriously ill children across the country.
