Braley Recognized for Contribution to Sport

Curl BC’s CEO, Scott Braley is being recognized for his contribution to the BC sport system. Braley has been named a Member of Distinction of Gymnastics BC as a part of their 40th anniversary celebration. This honour comes after 14 years of dedicated service to the organization where he was the Executive Director and CEO from 1991- 2005.

Curl BC was proud to have Braley join our team last year and we look forward to his continued contribution to sport and BC curling in the years to come. Congratulations Scott!

In mid-September the call for volunteer performers for the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be made public!!! Local Sport Program Development Funding Available

2010 Legacies Now is dedicated to strengthening arts, literacy, sport and recreation, physical activity and volunteerism in communities throughout BC. The Local Sport Program Development Fund will provide up to $2,000 to support new and expanded sport participation opportunities initiated in BC communities. New Training Program for Coaches of Competitive Teams

This fall Competition Coach will replace Level 2 Technical. Coaches will require Certification as a Competition Coach to go to BC Winter Games in February 2010 or to take any team to Nationals.

Welcome Back!

Curl BC is pleased to announce that Robbie Gallaugher is coming back as Communications and Administration Coordinator. Gallaugher will be responsible for Curl BC Publications, website management, merchandising and special events.

Gallaugher has worked with Curl BC in many capacities since 2006, leaving us in 2008 to pursue a career in Personal Training. His curling accomplishments (1998 Junior Men’s BC Champion, 2009 BC Men’s Silver Medalist and 2009 BC Mixed Bronze Medalist), as well as his experience within the sport sector will be a great asset to Curl BC. We are excited to have him back.

NEW this season is: Competition Coach

The Competition Coach Workshop (formally Level 2 Technical) prepares coaches to work with competitive athletes. This workshop followed by completing an ethical module and a coach evaluation will certify you to be eligible to coach at Nationals and BC Winter Games. It is recommended that you have taken Level 1 or Club Coach prior to taking Competition Coach.

High Performance Fall Workshops

The following High Performance workshops will be offered athletes in good standing (as per signed contract) in the High Performance Program at no charge. Non registered athletes are welcome to attend for a fee of $12.00 per person. [Read more…]

Juvenile Camps

Curl BC has scheduled three Juvenile Camps for the fall. These camps are open to all Juvenile curlers at a cost of $20 per person and are free to any teams registered in the High Performance Program. [Read more…]
