Optimist International Youth Curling Raffle Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the 2009 Optimist International Youth Curling Raffle. Thank-you to Al Kersey for heading up this fundraiser in support of youth curling and to the all of BC’s clubs who supported the raffle.  A total of $15,000 in prizes were awarded with the draw taking place at the 2009 BC Juvenile Championships in Winfield. Donato Picone – Lifetime of Curling

Donato Picone (or Donuts as he is known at the Trail Curling Club) is set to turn 89 this year. As he and the rest of the Retirees’ Club prepare for their March 22 Season End Bonspiel, Picone plays twice a week and comes out a couple of days each week to practice with his “weed-eater” stick. TSN Scores Highest Audience Ever for Scotties

A Record 928,000 Viewers Tune into TSN for the Final on Sunday, up 6% from last year’s final on CBC Tournament’s Overall Average Audience is up 7% from Last year

It’s a clean sweep! Overnight data from BBM Nielsen research confirm that Sunday’s 2009 SCOTTIES TOURNAMENT OF HEARTS final attracted 928,000 viewers – making it the most-watched Scotties match ever on TSN. The audience for the dramatic final, which saw Team Canada’s Jennifer Jones defeat B.C.’s Marla Mallett, was up 6% compared to last year’s final on CBC (878,000). [Read more…]
