Agency/Organization Description:
Curl BC is the Provincial Sport Organization responsible for the development of the sport of curling within the province of BC. We are responsible for all levels of the sport, from grassroots to high performance.
Rocks & Rings Program Description:
The Capital One Rocks & Rings program visits participating schools for a full school day. We take over the gym as classes take turns visiting for 40 minutes sessions of fun and instruction. Various drills, relays and team-building activities are used to introduce students to the sport of curling. It is a highly interactive program with the emphasis on fun! Unique indoor floor curling equipment is used to provide a true curling experience without requiring ice! For more information on the equipment used in the program, please visit www.kurling.ca.

Job Description:
- Directly delivering basic curling instruction to elementary aged children in the schools
- Ensuring timely arrival at school, setting up, and cleaning up gymnasium
- Encouraging participation at local level by liaising with local curling club representatives
- Monthly reporting of participation statistics
Skills/Qualifications Required:
- Energetic and enthusiastic
- Strong verbal communication
- Ability to organize, control, and generate enthusiasm in a classroom of 20-30 students
- Ability to work independently
- Good organization and time management skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience teaching, or coaching elementary aged children in a sport, camp, daycare, or school setting is an asset
- Knowledge of the sport of curling in BC would be an asset, but not a requirement?
Special Requirements:
- Access to a vehicle is a requirement for this position (on the days that you will be working)
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) is required prior to beginning work in schools

Ice Technician for 2012-13 season - Parksville
The Parksville Curling Club on Vancouver Island is seeking an Ice Technician for contract employment at the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. The Ice Technician reports to the Club President and is responsible for the installation, preparation, maintenance and removal of the curling ice, as well as refrigeration plant maintenance and installation of ancillary equipment, scoreboards, carpeting, etc. Further duties and compensation may be negotiated.
The successful candidate must have or obtain at his/her cost Level 1 and Level 2 ice technician certificates and a Fifth Class Power Engineering ticket for operation of the Club’s ammonia refrigeration plant.
League play of fifteen weekly draws runs from August to April and the 300-member PCC hosts eight to ten bonspiels on weekends during the season. The club has five full-sized sheets of ice, a bar, a concession and banquet services for special events and is the only club in British Columbia with arena ice for curling.
